When something is wrong
Red eyes, bumps and bangs
Call us if your child has any of these. We will tell you how soon we can see them, and whether an emergency room is the better place to go.
A red or sore eye
Pink, itchy or crusty eyes can have many causes. The doctor looks, and tells you what to do.
A bump on the eyelid
We check the bump, tell you what it is and say what to do next.
An eye that turns in or out
An eye that drifts, or crosses, needs a look at any age.
A knock near the eye
Even a small knock is worth a call. We tell you what to watch for.
- Sudden vision loss, flashes of light, a curtain over your vision, a chemical splash or an eye injury needs care now. Call our office right away or go to an emergency room. If you can't reach us, call 911.
How these visits are billed
A visit for an eye problem is billed to medical insurance, not to a vision plan. How fees work explains the difference, and our patient coordinator can check your benefits when you call.
About eye problems
What if it is an emergency?
Call us now, or go to the nearest emergency room, for sudden vision loss, a curtain over the vision, a sudden shower of floaters, an eye injury or a chemical splash. In a life-threatening emergency, call 911.
Why was part of my visit billed to medical insurance?
A routine exam is billed to a vision plan. If the doctor looks into an eye problem, such as a red eye or a follow-up, that part is billed to medical insurance. How fees work explains which is which.
